Burkina: Déclaration de Mariam Sankara suite à la profanation de la tombe du Président Sankara

Le 08 août 2011 par IvoireBusiness - C’est avec une émotion et une consternation profondes que nous, membres de la famille du Président Thomas SANKARA avons appris l’horrible nouvelle de

la profanation de sa sépulture dans le cimetière de Dagnoën à Ouagadougou. Face à un tel acte d’une horreur inqualifiable, nous ne pouvons qu’exprimer notre colère et notre indignation, mais aussi notre condamnation avec la plus grande fermeté. Attaquer ce sépulcre supposé être celui du président Thomas SANKARA, est indiscutablement une insulte à sa mémoire et à celle de tous ceux qui sont tombés à ses cotés. Tout laisse à penser que les lâches auteurs de cet acte barbare ont voulu à travers cette profanation souiller ce grand Homme qui, même mort, continue manifestement à gêner les auteurs et les commanditaires de son assassinat. Au-delà de l’ignominie de cet acte contraire aux valeurs séculaires de la société burkinabé, il est symptomatique du refus de justice qui continue d’entourer son assassinat, mais de façon plus générale de l’impunité qui constitue le lit du régime Blaise COMPAORE.

Il nous apparaît également évident que cette profanation qui, semble t-il s’est accompagnée du déversement d’un liquide étrange sur la tombe vise indiscutablement à contrecarrer l'action que nous avons engagée devant les juridictions du Burkina Faso pour que soit démontré et certifié que le corps du président Thomas SANKARA repose effectivement dans une des treize tombes hâtivement creusées dans la nuit du 15 octobre 1987. Cette action initiée depuis plusieurs années vise pour nous à lui assurer son droit effectif et inaliénable à une sépulture digne et à permettre à toute la famille SANKARA, à mes enfants et moi-même de pouvoir enfin commencer le travail du deuil que ceux qui l'ont lâchement assassiné nous ont empêché de faire jusqu’à ce jour.

Cette ignoble et inacceptable profanation vient confirmer un fait déjà patent à l’époque : le projet machiavélique de mausolée et de réhabilitation lancé à cor et à cri en son temps par le régime de Blaise COMPAORE n'était que de la poudre aux yeux pour essayer d'endormir la vigilance de ceux qui, partout dans le monde, se battent pour que la lumière soit faite sur cet assassinat et qu’éclate la vérité.

Nous exigeons donc que tous les moyens soient mis en œuvre par l’Etat burkinabé pour appréhender et sanctionner les auteurs de cet acte barbare afin que ce type d'agissement ne demeure impuni. Même si nous sommes sans illusion des suites qui seront réservées à nos requêtes compte tenu de l'impunité qui règne en maître au Burkina Faso. L’affaire de l’assassinat du Président Thomas SANKARA, celle du journaliste Norbert ZONGO ou plus récemment la mort du jeune Justin ZONGO et bien d'autres sombres histoires démontrent suffisamment cette impunité.

Appelons tous le burkinabé à se mobiliser contre l’impunité face à laquelle nul n’est à l’abri.

STATEMENT OF MARIAM SANKARA
FOLLOWING THE DESACRATION OF
PRESIDENT THOMAS SANKARA’S GRAVE

It is with deep emotion and consternation that we, members of the President Thomas SANKARA family, have learned the horrible news of the desecration of his tomb in the cemetery of Dagnoën in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. Faced with such an act of unspeakable horror, we can only express our anger and indignation, and condemn in the strongest terms. Attack what is supposed to be President Thomas SANKARA’S tomb is unquestionably an insult to his memory and that of all those who fell by his side. Everything suggests that the cowardly perpetrators of this barbaric act wanted through this desecration defile this great man that, even dead, clearly continues to embarrass the perpetrators and instigators of his murder. Apart from the ignominy of this act that is contrary to the secular values of the Burkinabè society, it is symptomatic of the denial of justice that continues to surround his murder, but more generally that of impunity which is the bed of the regime of Blaise Compaoré.

It seems equally clear that this desecration, which seems was accompanied by the release of a strange liquid on the grave is undoubtedly to counter the action we have brought before the courts of Burkina Faso so as to demonstrate and certify that the body of President Thomas SANKARA is actually in one of those thirteen graves hastily dug on the night of October 15, 1987.

This action that has been initiated several years ago is to enable us to provide him the effective and inalienable right to a decent burial and to allow all the SANKARA family, my children and myself, to finally start the work of mourning that the perpetrators of this cowardly assassination have prevented us from since.

This despicable and unacceptable desecration confirms a fact already obvious at the time: the Machiavellian mausoleum and rehabilitation project launched at the time by the regime of Blaise Compaoré was only a way to try to lull the vigilance of those, around the world, struggling to shed light on the assassination and allow the outbreak of the truth.

We therefore demand that all means be implemented by the government of Burkina Faso to apprehend and punish the perpetrators of this barbaric act so that this type of behavior does not remain unpunished. We make no illusion of the actions that will be reserved to our request in the light of the impunity that reigns in Burkina Faso. The case of the assassination of President Thomas SANKARA, that of the journalist Norbert Zongo, even more recently the death of young Justin Zongo, and many other dark stories sufficiently demonstrate that impunity.

We call on all the Burkinabé to mobilize against impunity, from which no one is immune.
